The 8 - 13 Agenda
These are the core years of childhood, moving into the key transitions of adolescence and the path to adulthood. Parents and carers have a crucial role, along with schools and education, as children acquire the basic skills and attitudes to learning that will shape the options open to them in later life.
It is also a period when broader interests, attitudes and lifestyles are developed which can either support personal development and the capacity to make a positive contribution to society or can lead to self-destructive and anti-social behaviour when things go wrong.
