‘El Caminante’ is a drawn animation. It focuses on the central character (the traveller) who is a high wire artist. Music is a key element of this film and is used very effectively at the beginning of the film to establish setting. The villagers eagerly await the arrival of El Caminante and prepare for his visit. He arrives and spends time soaking up the carnival atmosphere before he begins to walk the tight rope high above the village. He inches along the wire, the music reaches a crescendo and he seems to loose his balance, only miraculously to regain his balance. Everyone has a good time and he leaves the village following his courageous act.
