lucky dip

‘This film is a combination of cut-out and 3D model animation, about a little girl who visits the seaside with her parents for an unseasonal day out. She visits an arcade where she tries to win a toy rabbit in the Lucky Dip machine. She is frightened by a ‘Pin Man’ who works at the arcade and falls through a hole in the pier. In the end, the rabbit, who the pin man has helped her to free, runs off. There are several twists in the story that challenge our perceptions of the characters. Expressions, actions and the music play an important role in building the characters and creating mood and atmosphere. The film has the feel of a children’s picture book, and the soundtrack and the setting – a windswept seaside town on a rainy day - create a slightly eerie and ominous atmosphere.
