Curriculum Maps
The grids are an overview of the mathematical range in the new curriculum orders. They are a flexible resource that can be used in a variety of ways for planning and assessing the mathematics curriculum.
The content has been organised by year group for guidance only and learners’ development should be seen as part of a continuum. Mathematical concepts have been organised into rows so that the development of individual concepts can be tracked.
Structure
There are five grids organised under the following headings:
- Number and number notation
- Number – calculating
- Measures and Money
- Shape and Space
- Handling Data
For each area there are two grids:
- Nursery to Year 4
- Year 1 to Year 6
They are split in two for size reasons but can be printed and joined together if a full overview is required.
The columns shaded in yellow contain the statements from the Foundation Phase Framework and the Programme of Study for Mathematics in Key Stage 2.
Some of the text is coloured. The coloured statements are taken directly from the level descriptions:
| Brown | Foundation Phase Outcome 1 |
| Pink | Foundation Phase Outcome 2 |
| Plum | Foundation Phase Outcome 3 |
| Lavender | Level 1 |
| Light Blue | Level 2 |
| Orange | Level 3 |
| Green | Level 4 |
| Red | Level 5 |
